William Phillips, Sr. Obituary

      Mr. Phillips, 79, of Blandburg, died Friday, February 13, 2026, at his residence.  He was born August 11, 1946, in Philipsburg, a son of the late Joseph and Flotilla (Gensler) Phillips. He married Bonnie L. Baldwin on November 25, 1967, in Bellwood. Bonnie survives along with a son William J. (Dee) Phillips, Jr. of Blandburg, four grandchildren Cory Price, Justin Price, Megan Phillips and Melanie Philips and his son-in-law Roy R. Price, Jr.  He was also preceded in death by a daughter Penny L. Price, six brothers John, Joe, Charlie, Tom, James and Dick and five sisters Ruby Selvage, Cora Dufour, Mary Leverton, Leona Beere and Shirley Hockenberry.

     Bill served as a Private in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, in which was awarded the Purple Heart.  He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America, having been employed as a coalminer at Benjamin Coal Co., LaJose and then at Rushton Mines in Osceola Mills until its closure.  He then was an owner/operator hotshot truck driver and had worked for W.G. McClellan & Sons Excavating, Van Ormer. He was a Reade Twp. Supervisor for several years.  Bill was affiliated with area American Legion and VFW.

     He was an avid wild game hunter, fisherman and loved trapping, hunting ginseng, gardening and dirt track racing.  He enjoyed spending time with his wife and family, but was especially proud of his grandchildren, spending time with them was his life.

     Friends and family are invited to viewings on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 from 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm and again on Wednesday from noon until 1:00 pm, at which time military honors will be accorded by the Coalport VFW followed by the funeral services, all at the McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow.  Pastor Joe Hollen will officiate.
