Wendell J. Pier

     Mr. Pier, 73, Blandburg, died Monday, October 12, 2009 at ARHS-Altoona Hospital campus.  He was born May 3, 1936, in Blandburg, a son of the late Stephen F. and Mary Edna (Mansfield) Pier, Sr.  Surviving are three children Cindy L. (Frank) Kovaloski, Cheri L. (Ron) Ott and Andy (Lori Fudalski) Pier all of Blandburg, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two siblings Stephen F. Pier, Jr. of Blandburg and Mary Edna Garman of Warren, OH.

     Wendell was a 1954 graduate of Reade Twp. High School and retired as a dragline operator for C&K Coal Co. and Bender Coal Co., Blandburg.  He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Frugality and of the Knights of Columbus.  He was a life member of the NRA.

     Mass will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, October 15, 2009 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.  Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Glasgow.  Friends received at the McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow Wednesday 2-4 & 6-9 pm.
