Mr. Franks, 66, Blandburg, died unexpectedly Friday, March 5, 2010 at the ARHS-AHC emergency dept.. Born March 13, 1943 in Blandburg a son of the late Bruno L. and Lois F. (Miller) Franks. On April 29, 1989, in Tyrone, he married the former Carol L. Lightner who survives. He was previously married to Cynthia L. Irwin, who survives of Altoona and to who he had three children: Michael T. (Jennifer Hegarty) of Bellwood, Joseph R. (Krista Craig) of Altoona and Jeff who is deceased. Also surviving are three stepchildren Amanda R. Beals of Duncansville, David E. Beals of Spokane, WA. And Lynn A. Beals in Alabama. Numerous grandchildren survive along with two sisters Lorraine Forbes and Joan Ochranek, both of Altoona and two brothers Lee and Buzz, both of Blandburg. Also preceded in death by a sister Maxine Burns.
He retired in 2005 as a Maintenance mechanic at PPG-Tipton. He was a 1961 graduate of Reade Twp. H.S., served as a FTG3 in the Navy during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Bellwood Eagles and the Reade Twp. Veterans Assoc.
Friends will be received Monday 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the McQuown Funeral Home Glasgow, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am. Interment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Glasgow.
