Sherman George Scott, Jr.

     Mr. Scott, 90, of Tyrone, formerly of Blandburg, died Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at UPMC Altoona.

     He was born May 1, 1935, in Blandburg, a son of the late Sherman G. and Alice M. (Firmstone) Scott.  He was a 1953 graduate of Reade Twp. High School and served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He had been employed as a laborer at Powell Coal Co., Blandburg and Scott Bros. Coal Co., Glasgow in his younger years then at PPG Industries, Tipton.  After retirement from PPG, Sherm was a Blair County constable.

     On June 19, 1954, in Glasgow, he married Mary E. Bowman who died April 4, 2013.  He was also preceded in death by his parents, a son Sherman Scott and two sisters Minerva Duke and Sally Gustafson.  He is survived by two sons James W. (Liz) Scott of Glasgow and R. Lynn (Janey) Scott of Coalport, four grandchildren Ryan, Christopher, Justin and Kaitlin, two great-grandchildren Chloe and Lochlann and a sister Theresa A. Bougher of Utahville.

     At the request of the deceased there will be no public visitation or service.

     The McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow, is in charge of arrangements.
