Mr. Barnhart, 80, Beaver Valley, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, September 23, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born May 30, 1930 in Beaver Valley, a son of the late Robert S. and Beulah M. (Gates) Barnhart and on March 6, 1956, in Winchester, VA., married Helen M. Potter who survives along with 2 children Wesley R. (Monica Burk) of Altoona and Simone P. (Jerry) Markel at home, 4 grandchildren Lane Burk, Brooke Barnhart and Mya and Medina Markel, and 4 sisters Patricia Kendrick of Clearfield, Joanne Hilmer of Harrisburg, Donna Westover and Shirley (Bill) O’Donnell of Beaver Valley. Has also preceded in death by a brother William.
He was a member of the Faith Tabernacle Church, Beaver Valley. In June 1948 he founded Super Coal Co. in Beaver Valley. He also was founder of Barnhart Boat Sales, Barnhart Bottle Gas, Barnhart Yamaha, Sir Barney’s Restaurant and Sleepy Valley Motel & Cabins. He was a light aircraft pilot and loved flying his Cessna, spending time with his family, traveling and hunting.
Friends will be received Saturday 6-9, Sunday 7-9 and Monday 11-noon at the McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow where funeral services will be held Monday at noon with Pastor Warren Yeager officiating. Interment in Beaver Valley Cemetery, Flinton.
