Richard Harbula Obituary

Mr. Harbula, 37, Bellwood, entered Heaven on Friday, May 22, 2020 at UPMC-Shadyside, Pittsburgh from complications of Acute Myeloid Leukemia while surrounded by his family.  He was born June 3, 1982 at Altoona Hospital to Susan L. (Shenck) Hahn of Duncansville and Joseph E. (Vickie) Harbula of Bellwood.  He is survived by his parents, two sisters Lora (Don) Hinkle of Glendale Yearround and Jaime (Adam) Henderson of Juniata, a brother Joseph (Lori) Stuby of Bellwood, five nephews Spenser, Payton, A.J., Ryan and Joshua and four nieces Taylor, Zoe, Bridget and Vivien as well as aunts, uncles and cousins. Richie was preceded in death by his great-grandparents Richard and Margaret Flenner and Frieda Shaheen, grandparents Connie Shenck, Joseph and Sarah Harbula and an uncle Alan Harbula.

Rich was a 2001 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School where he played trumpet in the band.  He was also a graduate of the Hiram G. Andrews School in Johnstown where he studied auto mechanics.  He was recently employed by Uber.  As a child Richie was a member of the Martin Oil Little League team in Bellwood.  He loved to bowl like his Dad and bowled on the Monday Night Church League at Splinters lanes.

He was known as a kind and gentle soul who loved unconditionally and never held grudges.  He had an infectious laugh and was the first to laugh at himself.

At Richie’s request there will be no viewing.  A memorial service will be held at New Life Worship Center, Ritts Lane, Altoona at 3:00 pm, Wednesday, June 3, 2020 with Pastor Wayne Schaffer officiating.  The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the family to defray funeral costs.  Arrangements by McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow.
