Rev. Simmers, 52, Van Ormer, died Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at his home. Born April 27, 1963 in Altoona a son of the late Robert F. and Ruth A. (Hollen) Simmers. On November 19, 2011, in Blandburg, he married Barbara A. Bickford who survives along with two daughters Amanda L. Smith of Flinton and Elizabeth A. Soltis at home, four grandchildren and seven siblings Ida M. of Coalport, A. Mark of Laramie, WY., Ruth E. Varney of McClendonton, Martha A. Squire of Berwick, Maine, Alfred P. of Utahville, Timothy R. of Hollentown and John M. of Ebensburg. He was also preceded in death by a sister Barbara Bruggeling.
Fred was a 1981 graduate of Glendale High School and attended Valley Forge Christian College before becoming an ordained minister through the Brethren in Christ.
He was a member of the Hollentown Assembly of God where funeral services will be held Sunday, May 31, 2015 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Joe Hollen officiating. Friends will be received Saturday, May 30, 2015 from 4-8 pm at the McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow and Sunday from 1:00 pm until funeral services at the church. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Glasgow.
