Mrs. Carter, 70, Blandburg, formerly of Altoona, died Sunday, October 26, 2014 at her residence. Born September 4, 1944 in Altoona a daughter of the late Penman Wayne and Hadessa Margaret (Showalter) Shelow. She was twice married first to Joe Spade, Sr., now deceased, and then to Warren A. Carter, Sr. who survives. Surviving are 5 children Penny (Bill) Mowery of State College, Billie Jo (Jim) Loucks of Alum Bank, Kelly Doyle and her partner John Summers of Palmyra, Joe (Tracy) Spade, Jr. of Nanty Glo and Larry (Stephanie) Spade of Hornlake, MS. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three siblings Wayne (Diane) Shelow of Altoona, Larry (Debbie) Shelow of Duncansville and Janet Weyant of East Freedom. Also preceded in death by a sister Carol Daugherty.
She had attended Altoona Area High School.
Peggy loved dogs, especially her two Chihuahuas Gizmo and Byndi Sue. She enjoyed dancing, doing plaster crafts, fill-in-puzzles and making jewelry.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday November 1, 2014 at the McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow with Hospice Chaplain Pastor Rick Clark officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 2:00 pm until the time of services. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Home Nursing Hospice.
