Mrs. Alley, 62, of Blandburg, died unexpectedly Saturday, December 16, 2023, at the home of her daughter in Osborne, KS. from an apparent heart attack. She was born May 23, 1961, in Texas, a daughter of the late Melvin D. and Mary Lou (Stiver) Fortney. On July 13, 1985, in Blandburg, she married James R. Alley who died December 21, 2022. Surviving are four children: James R. Alley, Jr. of Tyrone, Kimberly S. Alley of Bellwood, Rory C. Fortney of Blandburg and Margaret C. “Katie” Turner and her husband Jeff of Osborne, KS. Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren, one great-grandson, a brother John A. (Kelly) Fortney of Gallitzin, a sister Tammy L. (Ron) Merritts of Altoona and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Melvin Fortney and one sister Denise Fortney.
Affectionately known as Peg or Freddie, she was a 1979 graduate of Glendale High School and retired as a CNA from Hollidaysburg Veterans Home. An ever-caring spirit and an ever-giving woman, she was known for her help to others, putting their needs and difficulties before her own. But, most of all, family was her life.
There will no viewing. A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 11:00 am until noon at the McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the funeral home to help offset final expenses. The family requests that those attending the memorial gathering to please dress casually.
