Mrs. Mottern, 49, Altoona, died Thursday, September 25, 2008 at ARHS-Altoona Hospital campus following a courageous two and a half year battle with cancer. She was born June 2, 1959 in Altoona a daughter of the late Robert A. and Anna Mary (Noonan) Mayes. On December 24, 1977, in Hollentown, she married David A. Mottern who survives along with sons Michael D. (Heather Desch) of Claysburg and Mark A. at home and a daughter Amanda L., also at home. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren and these siblings: Judy L. Hollen of Palmyra, Joe A. of Gill Hollow, Trixie A. Chasse of Glendale, AZ., Wanda J. Weakland of Hollentown and Noreen M. Flanagan of Altoona. She was also preceded in death by a brother Bernard.
She was a 1977 graduate of Glendale High School. She had owned and operated Mottern’s Family Day Care in Altoona before working as an assembler for New Pig Corp., Tipton. She was a member of the Hollentown Assembly of God Church where funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday with Pastor Joe Hollen officiating. Friends received at the McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow, Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 pm and at the church Monday 10:00 am until the hour of services.
