Mr. Ochranek, 83, Broadway, Altoona, died Friday February 13, 2004 at the Altoona Hospital Known as Bun, he was born May 18, 1920, in Blandburg, a son of the late Joseph S. and Mary A. (Pollack) Ochranek. On June 28, 1947, in Blandburg, he married Joanne M. Franks who survives along with 4 children: John A. (Jen Czoch), Jr of Springfield, VA., Teresa L. (Chris) Bender and Roger T. (LouAnn Hostler), both of Altoona and Dale A. Franks (fiancé Stephanie Fink), Manassas, VA. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 5 greatgrandchildren along with 2 sisters: Agnes Sedlock, Aston and Joanne K. McQuown, Ramey. Also preceded in death by 1 brother Joseph and 2 sisters Catherine and Ann Pelerossi. He enjoyed his family, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
He had been employed as a conductor for PRR/Penn Central Railroad, Altoona for 30 years. He was a Sergeant serving in the Army during WWII, a member of the VFW, Juniata, the American legion, AARP, UTU and Holy Rosary Church, Altoona. He also had spent two years in a CCC Camp.
Friends received Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow where funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Monday with Rev. George Gulash officiating. Interment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Glasgow.
