John Lonesky

     Mr. Lonesky, 88, Golden Living Center-Hillview, Altoona, and formerly of Glasgow, died Thursday, October 13, 2011 at the center.  He was born July 5, 1923 in Irvona a son of the late Nicholas and Mary (Zayoc) Lonesky and on March 5, 1944, in Hollidaysburg, married Lillian M. Russell who died in 1974.  Surviving are 4 children Joanne Partner and Jim, both of Bellwood and Mary Withers and Cathy Lonesky, both of Lisbon, Maine.  Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, 9 greatgrandchildren and these siblings: Katherine Brunner of Bellwood, Rose Downey of Bristol, PA., Frank of Roanoke Rapids, VA., Helen Downey of Jackson, OH., Stella Wood of Altoona, Nicholas of Sellersville, Christinia Lyon of Frederick, MD and James of Blandburg.  He was also preceded in death by 3 sisters Theresa, Anna Jena and Mary Pfahler and 4 brothers Walter, Joseph, Charles and Michael.
     He was a US Navy veteran during WWII.  He retired in 1981 after 39 years employment as a shipper/receiver for Conrail, Altoona.
     Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 pm until the hour of services at 4 pm.  Interment will be in Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
