Mrs. Shomo, 84, a resident of Valley View Home, Altoona, and formerly of Hollentown, died Thursday March 1, 2012 at the home. She was born April 20, 1927, in Coalport, a daughter of the late George and Vida (Brown) Beers. On November 2, 1946, in Hollentown she married Donald C. Shomo who died April 25, 2003. Surviving are 6 children: Larry D. of Dysart, Phyllis J. Hescox of Roaring Spring, Linda D. Nardelli of Coalport, Lora L. Weakland of Bedford, Bob C. and Rusty W. of Blandburg; 11 grandchildren and 8 greatgrandchildren. Also surviving are 2 sisters Norma Helsel and Pat Skebeck both of Coalport. She was also preceded in death by 1 son Jerry, 2 brothers Bud and William and 4 sisters Mabel Klenak, Lela Gallaher, Betty Hamilton and Louise. Mrs. Shomo was a member of the Hollentown Assembly of God.
Friends will be received at the McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow Sunday 2-4 & 6-8 pm and at the Hollentown Assembly of God Monday noon-the 1:00 pm funeral services with Pastor Joe Hollen officiating.
