Mr. Gates, 79, Glasgow,, died Friday, April 30, 2010 at his residence. Born November 2, 1930 in Glasgow the son of the late Mervyl H. and Mildred E. (Hollenbaugh) Gates. On March 29, 1952 in New Centerville he married Donna M. Michaels who survives along with 3 children: Susie L. (Mike) Wagner, Thomas G. (Kathy) and Jeffrey M. (Karen) all of Glasgow, 7 grandchildren: Jen Wagner, Julie (Kevin) Willard, Jason Wagner, Lindsay, Kaytee, Matt and Josh (Kristine) and 3 greatgrandchildren Colin and Chase Willard and Jacob Gallaher. Also surviving is his beloved dog Meg.
He was a 1948 graduate of Reade Twp. High School, served as a Corporal in the US Army during the Korean War, retired in 1993 after working 26 in the shipping department at PPG Industries, Tipton, was a life member of the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Glasgow and of the Coalport VFW.
Friends will be received Monday 2-4 & 6-8 and Tuesday 10-11 at the McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am with Pastors Susan Yatta and John Bennett officiating. Interment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery with military honors by Coalport VFW. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the charity of your choice.
