Ms. Wallace, 77, of Altoona, formerly of Hollentown, died Monday, May 6, 2024, at Hilltop HealthCare and Rehabilitation, Altoona. She was born July 27, 1946, in Hollentown, a daughter of the late Preston M. and Marie F. (Beers) Hollen. Surviving is a son James D. Wallace of Altoona, his two daughters Alexis J. Wallace and Elaina A. Wallace, a daughter Jacqueline D. Hess of Nanty Glo and four siblings Milford P. Hollen of Van Ormer, Barbara A. Hamilton of Philipsburg, A. Lorraine Mayes of Coalport and Rev. Joseph L. Hollen of Hollentown. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Carol Whitehair and Ruth Simmers and 2 infant brothers and an infant sister.
Gladys was a 1964 graduate of Reade Twp. High School and had been employed by S.O.S. in Altoona as a data entry clerk. She graduated from Northeast Bible Institute (now Valley Forge University) in Phoenixville in 1970. She was a foster grandparent, enjoyed watching game shows, HGTV, Food Network, socializing with friends, cooking and playing solitaire.
There will be no viewing. Family and friends will be received at the Hollentown Assembly of God on Monday, May 13, 2024 from 5:00 PM until the hour of services at 7:00 PM with her brother Pastor Joe Hollen officiating. Arrangements by the McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow. In lieu of flowers, please make any memorial contributions to Breast Cancer Awareness at the American Cancer Society in Gladys’ memory.
