Mr. Troxell, 93, Garvey Manor, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Blandburg died Friday, August 10, 2007 at the manor. He was born May 26, 1914 in Colver, a son of the late Joel A. and Dorothy (Gorman) Troxell. On November 15, 1955, in, Blandburg, he married Anna M. Ream Rickard who died March 7, 2000. He is survived by 4 children: Shermanna S. (Chester) Robinson of Williamsville, NY., Barbara J. (Robert) Diehl of Altoona, John K. (Virginia Persinger) Rickard of Rochester Mills and Georgeanna Claar of Ellicott City, MD, 6 grandchildren and 3 greatgrandchildren. Also surviving are siblings Kenneth and Fred, both of Ft. Lauderdale, FL., Evelyn Bland of Pittsburgh, Ida Bentz of Chicago, IL. and Marlin of Baton Rouge, LA. He was also preceded in death by sisters Lucille Weston, Genevieve Hommer, Verna Metzger, Dorothy and Marie and brothers Ivan and Calvin.
He was a member of Blandburg United Methodist Church, 60 year member of the Coalport F&AM Lodge #574, the Jaffa Shrine and its Jaffa Patrol, Altoona, Coalport VFW Post #7043. He and his wife were owner of Mr. & Mrs. George Troxell Outboard Motor and Boat Service and the former Happy Cooking Gas, General Merchandise and Appliances in Blandburg. He was an Army Air Corp veteran of WWII serving as a Tech Sgt and was a crack rifleman.
Friends will be received Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 pm and Monday 10:00 am till the 11:00 am services at the McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow with Rev. Joseph Onder officiating, Interment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Masonic memorial services at the funeral home Sunday evening at 7:00 pm by Coalport Lodge and graveside military rites by Coalport VFW.
