Mrs. Gathagan, 88, a resident of Midtown Oaks Health and Rehab Center, Altoona, and formerly of Utahville died Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Midtown Oaks. She was born July 9, 1937 in Roaring Spring, one of eight daughters of the late Paul C. and Hannah K. (Leidy) Roub. She married Clair A. Gathagan on June 3, 1956 in Bellwood. Clair died January 29, 2019. She was also preceded in death by a son Randy Gathagan, a daughter Sheila Wilson and five sisters Pearl Leonard, Ruth McCloskey, Martha Pierce, Nancy Stotler and Ethel Saylor.
Surviving are two daughters Brenda Lea (Gary) Beers of Utahville, Rita Faye (Ike) Solan of Allemans, five grandchildren Jason (Maureen) Solan, Tonya Beers-Warman, Candy Beers and her husband Lawrence Kim, Christine (Tim) Fritton, Carlee (Austin) Cook and four great-grandchildren Evelyn Kim, Hadley Fritton, Lydia Solan and Reece Cook. Jeanne is also survived by two sisters Doris J. Stoner of Mechanicsburg and Joyce A. Lovell of Allemans.
She had been a cook at the former Berry’s Nursing Home, Utahville, a saleslady for the former Jone’s Salvage, Smoke Run and a beautician at Green Avenue Towers, Altoona.
Friends and family are invited to a viewing on Monday, January 26, 2026 from 11:00 am until the time of funeral services at 1:00 pm at the McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow. Pastor Dean Dietrick will officiate and burial will be beside her husband in Utahville Cemetery.
