Mr. Yingling, 77, Blandburg, died Sunday, February 22, 2009 at ARHS-Altoona Hospital Campus. He was born June 15, 1931, in Blandburg, a son of the late Samuel and Laura (Zimmerman) Yingling. On March 20, 1952, in Winchester, VA. he married Doris M. Bollinger who survives along with five children Steven P. Yingling and Jaynee L. Hullihen, both of Blandburg, Gene R. Yingling of Coalport, Brett M. Yingling of Hollidaysburg and Laura M. Yingling of Springdale, AR., 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and one sister Patricia Lazear of Nicholasville, KY. He was also preceded in death by seven brothers Richard, Oliver, Donald, Clair, Robert, Harold and Joseph and one sister Irene Corrado.
Gene was a 1949 graduate of Reade Twp. High School and retired in 1993 as a Line Operator at PPG Industries, Tipton being employed there for 27 years. Prior to that he had worked at Powel Coal Co., Blandburg. He served during the Korean War as a Sergeant in the United States Army. He was a member of the Tyrone American Legion and the Bellwood Eagles.
Friends will be received Wednesday, February 25, 2009 from 4-8 pm at the McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow where funeral services will be held Thursday with Pastor John Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Glasgow.
