Mr. Burchner, 71, Van Ormer, died Thursday, February 12, 2015 at UPMC-Altoona. Born May 7, 1943 in Vallejo, CA. a son of the late Aloysius Martin and Junette A. (Bathurst) Burchner. He is survivied by a son Marty Burchner of Altoona, two grandchildren, a great-grandchild and a his companion Jean Smay.
Gary was a 1963 graduate of Altoona High School. He retired January 8, 2001 from Ward Trucking Corp., Altoona, as a W&I Coordinator. He was a member of the Bavarian Aid Society, Altoona and had been an EMT-P for five years with Duncansville Ambulance Association, American Legion Ambulance Service, Hollidaysburg and AMED Ambulance, Altoona. He had also been a CPR instructor for the American Red Cross and the American Heart Association. He was a benefactor member of the NRA. He had been in the Seebeas in the U.S. Navy pre-Korea War.
Friends and family will be received 2:00 pm until the 4:00 pm funeral services Sunday at the McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow. Pastor Timothy Guyer will officiate. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to the Wounded Warriors Project and/or Southern Care Hospice.
