Mr. Kovaloski, 78, Blandburg, died unexpectedly Monday, September 6, 2004 from an apparent heart attack while returning from a walk to his favorite hunting spot. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener.. Born July 12, 1926 in Blandburg a son of the late Michael S. and Antonette J. (Janos) Kovaloski and on August 28, 1948, in Blandburg, married Marian R. Simon who survives along with a daughter Annette M. Fishel of Martinsburg, WV., a son Francis R., Jr. of Blandburg, 8 grandchildren, 8 greatgrandchildren, 2 sisters Anna Gealsha of Hollidaysburg, Sara Morton of Cumberland, MD. and a brother Robert of Apollo. He was also preceded in death by a brother Michael and a sister Mary Sacolic.
He had served as an infantry Private 1st Class in the Army during WWII in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theaters. He retired in 1988 after working 40 years as a carpenter for PRR and Conrail, Altoona.
He was a member of St Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Frugality where Funeral Mass will be held Thursday at 10:00am with Fr. George Gulash officiating. Interment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Glasgow. Friends received at the McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow, Wednesday 2-4 & 6-8 where a vigil service will be held in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 692 Glendale Valley Blvd, Fallentimber, PA. 16639 or a favorite charity.
