Mrs. Noel, 86, Glasgow, died Thursday, November 16, 2006, at the Allegheny Lutheran Home, Hollidaysburg. Born June 4, 1920, in Flinton, a daughter of the late William A. and Grace A. (Davis) Fleming. On January 10, 1942, in Frugality she married Thomas W. Noel who died August 16, 1993. Surviving are 5 children: Donna K. (Leon) Hancock of Martinsburg, WV., Gordon T. (Bernadette) of Greensburg, Gary W. (Peggy) of Bellwood, Eugene E. of Altoona and Loy C. (Suzanne) of Blandburg. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and a sister Velma Gates of Beaver Valley. She was preceded in death by siblings: Loy, Lewis, Lester, Mary Drear and Emma Barnhart.
Effie was a wonderful mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. She was always a lady and will be deeply missed and always loved.
She had attended St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, and had been employed at PRR in Altoona during WWII. She retired as a teachers’ aide from Glendale School District.
Visitation will be held Sunday 3-5 pm at the McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow where funeral services will be held Monday at 10:00 am with Rev. Peggy Bonsell officiating. Interment will be in Beaver valley Cemetery, Flinton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the PA Humane Society and/or the American Heart Association and /or the American Cancer Society.
