Mr. Scott, 84, Blandburg, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at ARHS-Altoona Hospital Campus.
He was born December 7, 1924, in Blandburg, a son of the late Edward R. and Elizabeth W. (Waple) Scott. On January 6, 1946, in Cresson, he married the former Rosella D. Hopkins who survives along with one son James Todd (Nancy Gates) Scott of Bellwood, a daughter-in-law the former Gaye Shrock, 5 grandchildren Christopher (Amy) Scott, Kevin (Kimiko) Scott, Bradley (Angie) Scott, Benjamin (Carrie) Scott and Heather (James) Slowik, 6 greatgrandchildren Sasha, Trevor, Griffin, Eric, Sam and Lauren and one sister Eleanor Jean Wilkinson of Blandburg. He was also preceded in death by a son Edward Gary Scott and a sister Gloria Rossi.
He graduated from Reade Twp. High School, served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during WWII, was a member of the Bellwood American Legion, the Coalport Lodge #574 F&AM, and the Sinking Valley Country Club. He retired in 1987 as a glassworker from PPG Industries, Tipton and had been a foreman at Scott Bros. Mining, Glasgow. He had been a PIAA basketball, football and baseball official for 20 years and was an avid golfer.
Friends will be received Friday 2-4 & 6-8 at the McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow. Services will be held at the funeral home Saturday at noon with Pastor Tracy Plessinger officiating. Interment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Glasgow.
