Mr. O‘Shell, 84, a resident of HAIDA Manor, Hastings, and formerly of Lyleville, Coalport, RD., died Monday, April 7, 2008 at the manor. Known as Bucky, he was born September 14, 1923 in Coalport, a son of the late Daniel and Goldie (Hooper) O’Shell. On December 10, 1948, in Coalport, he married the former Hazel I. Adam who survives along with 4 children: Donald (Sondra McClellan) “Bucky”, Jr. of Van Ormer, Gloria J. Keith of Patton, Linda B. (Leon) McClellan of Glasgow and Doris L. Davis of Smoke Run. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren and 9 greatgrandchildren. He was the last family member of his generation, being preceded in death by 5 brothers Stewart, Leroy, Henry, Jesse and Daniel and 5 sisters Dorothy Troxell, Ethel Bollinger, Edna, Josephine and Oneida and a greatgranddaughter Makayla Keith.
He served as a Private 1st Class in the Army during WWII and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He had been a Beccaria Twp. Supervisor of 20 years and was also a carpenter for Don Youngkin Construction, Coalport and a coalminer. He was a member of the Coalport Moose and Coalport VFW.
Friends will be received Wednesday 2-4 & 6-8 at the McQuown Funeral home, Glasgow, with Pastor Jason Gornicz officiating. Veterans services will be conducted by the Coalport VFW.
