Mr. Fortney, 73, Blandburg, died Monday, December 2, 2019 at Resthaven Nursing Home, York. Born March 4, 1946 in Altoona a son of the late Melvin D. and Pearl V. (Williamson) Fortney. On December 11, 1965, in Blandburg, he married Marcia A. Reardon who survives along with two children David P. (Dana) Fortney, Jr. of Marietta, PA. and Wendy L. Hollen of Dover, PA. Also surviving are three grandchildren Krystal McClucas, Madison Hieder and Elizabeth Fortney. Dave was preceded in death by son-in-law Duane Hollen, a brother-in-law Patrick Melvin Reardon who raised in Dave’s home and loved as a son and was the last surviving member of his immediate family being preceded in death by two sisters Shirley Pavlic and Naomi Garman and a brother Denny.
David retired from C&K Coal Company, Blandburg as a Mining Supervisor. He had attended the former Brethren in Christ Church, Blandburg and was a member of the NRA, the former Reade Twp. Sportsmen’s Club and was a Shooting Instructor.
Friends will be received 2-4 & 6-8 pm Saturday, December 7, 2019, and Sunday from 1:00 pm until the 2:00 pm funeral services at the McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow. Pastor Dean Dietrick will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Glasgow.
