Mr. Hollen, 99, Epworth Manor, Tyrone and formerly of Hollentown, died Saturday, December 3, 2011 at the manor. He was born July 6, 1912 in Hollentown, a son of the late Joseph W. and Carmen S. (Rickard) Hollen and on October 11, 1939, in Gallitzin, married Cloey I. Ross who died September 7, 1997. Surviving is one son David C. of Glasgow, 5 grandchildren and 6 greatgrandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a daughter Sandra Hollis, 3 brothers Lester, Walter and Clair and 2 sisters Della Leeper and Edna Reynolds.
He was a 1931 graduate of Reade Twp. High School. He had been employed as a coal miner at Apple Coal Co., a pattern maker at Harbison-Walker Refactories, a school teacher at Reade Twp School District and General Maintenance Supervisor at Glendale School District. He was past president of the PA Industrial Arts Assoc. and was a life member of the PSEA.
As per Mr. Hollen’s request there will be no visitation or services. McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow, is in charge of his arrangements.
