Chet Briggs, 66, of Pinecroft, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on November 30, 2022. He was born September 26, 1956, in Altoona to Phyllis I. (Couch) Briggs and the late C. Lamoyne "Lee" Briggs. He married Twila D. Clifford on February 26, 1977.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 45 years; two daughters, Virginia R. (Mitch) Kenney of Lansing, MI; Jordan L. Briggs of Tipton; a son, Corey L. (Dawn) of Bellwood. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren: Christian, Cyler, Dannika, Paityn, and Paisley; his mother, and 2 siblings; Gloria J. McFarland of Pinecroft, and Scott A. Briggs of Dubois, and his beloved dog, Boone. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jessica Ann; his father, and good friend, Robert "Bob" W. Himes.
Chet was a 1975 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School. He was a truck driver, retiring in 2016 from Mighells Brothers Excavating of Altoona. He was an avid hunter, fly fisherman, and rattlesnake enthusiast. He was known to his closest friends as the "Deer Slayer". He achieved a goal of killing over 100 deer in his lifetime. He was a Civil War aficionado and loved to talk and share stories. He raced a street stock racing car mostly at Hesston Speedway and enjoyed Penn State football. His greatest passion was his family, especially his grandchildren.
On Wednesday, December 7, 2022 friends and family are invited to a 2-4 pm visitation at the McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow, followed by a 4:00 pm memorial service with Pastor Rich Maher officiating.
