Mr. Cree, 88, Glasgow, died Friday, June 26, 2009 at ARHS-Altoona Hospital Campus.
He was born March 21, 1921 in Fallentimber, a son of the late George L. and Lena (Troxell) Cree. On August 10, 1940, in Glasgow, he married Maxine C. Barnett who died March 22, 2001. Surviving are three sons Robert C. (Barbara Carson) of Mechanicsburg, George A. (Judy North) of Glasgow and Gene E. (Linda Wenrich) of Turbotville, 7 grandchildren, 13 greatgrandchildren and two brothers L. Herbert of Tyrone and Harry L. of Dysart. He was also preceded in death by 3 brothers Willis and 2 infants.
He retired in 1986 from Blair Clay Products, Altoona and had worked at Harbison-Walker Refactories, Blandburg. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and was a Methodist lay speaker. He was also involved in prison ministry. He served as a sergeant in the Army dring WWII.
Friends will be received Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 pm and Wednesday 10-11 am at the McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am with Rev. Thomas McGill officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Glasgow.
