Brenda Hobbs Obituary

Mrs. Hobbs, of Breckenridge, TX. and formerly of Glasgow, left this earth to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, while visiting in her home state of Pennsylvania on Thursday, December 26, 2024 at Penn Highlands-Dubois.

As God has a way of guiding our lives, Pennsylvania is where Brenda met her future husband Len Hobbs from Rising Star, Texas.  Brenda and Len headed to Texas to build their life together.

She was born on March 28, 1946, in Glasgow, a daughter of the late Guy E. and Ellen G. (Rickard) Curry.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Tammy “Till” Ford-Hanna, a brother James Curry and a sister Margaret Lawson.  She is survived by her husband Len, twin sons Ronald D. Hanna and his companion Lisa Temchack Buhler of Johnstown and Donald L. (Dee Kassab) Hanna of Dubois, a daughter Tammy C. (Frank) Beers of Concord, NC., eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  Brenda was so happy with her life as Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother and was able to smile no matter what the day would bring.  She loved traveling back home to Pennsylvania any chance she could.

Brenda was proud of her skills in the kitchen and was known far and wide as the Queen of holiday dinners.  Everybody felt the warm hospitality of her kitchen and looked forward to the “cooked from scratch” meals she served for family and friends, whether the setting was a large special holiday feast or weekday lunch of fried bologna.  She loved people and was genuinely interested in others; she was able to make friends instantly because of her big heart and giving nature.  She had been a cosmetologist at numerous locations, having owned a salon in Dubois and had been a travel agent for The Ramblers’ Club.  She was a member of Eolian Community Church, near Breckenridge.

There will be no visitation.  A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025 at 11:00am at the Allemansville United Methodist Church with Pastor Robert Ford officiating.  Burial will be in Allemansville Cemetery with her parents and brother.

“And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor storms, nor crying.  There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away”.  Revelation 21:4
