Mr. Wilkinson, 78, of Blandburg, died Sunday, September 22, 2024 at UPMC Altoona. He was born June 24, 1946, in Altoona, a son of the late Benjamin A. and Sara M. (Letcher) Wilkinson. Surviving are three children Benjamin E. Wilkinson, Jr. and his fiancé Jil of Altoona, Melinda “Mindy” Dye and her husband Junior of Everett, Randy Wilkinson and his wife Melissa of Lyleville, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his life partner Janet K. (McElheny) Brown of Blandburg, two stepsons Bob Brown and Brian Brown, both of Blandburg and a brother John S. Wilkinson of Randelman, NC. In addition to his parents his was preceded in death by three brothers William, Raymond and Kenneth.
Ben was a 1964 graduate of Reade Twp. High School and served in Vietnam as a Specialist 4th Class in the United States Army. He was a member of the Reade Twp. Veterans Organization, the Gallitzin American Legion and the National Vietnam Veterans Organization. He retired in 2008 as an inspector for Union Tank Car Co., Altoona.
There will be no viewing. Friends and family are invited to his burial with military honors in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Glasgow, on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 11:00 am. Arrangements by McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow.
