Anthony C. Matthew

     Mr. Matthew, 88, Fallentimber, died Thursday, September 4, 2008, at ARHS-Altoona Hospital Campus.  He was born October 31, 1919 in Allemans a son of the late Lloyd A. and Elva (Glass) Matthew.  On July 20, 1946, in LaVale, MD., he married Mildred L. Scott who survives along with two children Terry L. (Trudy Glasgow) Matthew of North Hill and Sarah J. Shawley of Coalport, two grandchildren Michael L. Shawley of Duncansville and Dr. Kerry L. Matthew of Columbus, OH. and three great-grandchildren Alexis, Blayde and Gage.  He was also preceded in death by an infant brother and sister.

     Anthony had owned and operated Matthew Vault Service until 2001 and had been a coal miner in numerous area mines.  He serviced in the United States Army during WWII as a Tech 4 and was a member of the Masonic Lodge F&AM, Coalport.

     Friends will be received 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow on Sunday September 7, 2008.  Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Monday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Dennis McCracken officiating.  Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Glasgow.
