William D. Chilcote

March 8, 1931 ~ June 11, 2019 (age 88)

     Mr. Chilcote, 88, Hollentown, passed away following a brief illness Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on March 8, 1931, in Blandburg a son of the late Charles M. and Della E. (Richardson) Chilcote.  On October 19, 1957, in Bellwood, he married Connie J. Michaels who survives along with three children Polly S. (Tom) Renninger and Charles M. (Jodi) Chilcote, both of Hollentown and Penny J. (Tom) Shomo of Glasgow, six grandchildren Adam (Roxanne) Renninger, Evan (Chelsea) Renninger, Amanda Hamilton and friend Josh, Abbey Shomo and friend Jon and Joel and Kaylee Chilcote.  Also surviving are five great-grandchildren Morghan and Brantley Renninger, Levi, Tessa and Emma Hamilton and a brother Darwin G. Chilcote of Camp Hill.  He was also preceded in death by a brother Gordon and a sister Bernice.

     Bill was a 1949 graduate of Reade Twp. High School and served in the United States Army as a Tech Sergeant during the Korean War.  He had owned and operated Chilcote Coal Mine in Hollentown for ten years and retired as an insurance agent for Prudential Insurance Company in April 1986.  He was a 50 year member of Coalport Lodge #574 F&AM and the Jaffa Shrine, Altoona, a 68 year member of the Fred R. Korman Lodge #55 I.O.O.F., Glasgow and a 20 year member of the Richard L. Beers VFW Post #7043, Coalport.  He was also a member of the Reade Twp. Military Organization.  A member of the Blandburg United Methodist Church, he enjoyed woodworking and gardening but cherished most his loving family.

      Funeral services will be held at 3:30 pm on Sunday, June 16, 2019.  Family and friends will be received 2-4 & 6-8 pm Saturday, June 15, 2019 and again on Sunday from 2:00 pm until the time of services at the McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow.  Pastor Preston Hutchins will officiate and burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Glasgow  Masonic services will be held at the funeral home Saturday evening followed by Odd Fellows services.  Military honors will be conducted Sunday at the funeral home.
