Mr. Decker, 71, Ramey, passed away unexpectedly Monday, June 3, 2019 while enjoying one of his favorite hobbies…metal detecting. He was born on April 6, 1948, in Philipsburg a son of D. Louise (Desso) Decker of Altoona and the late Malcolm Decker. On March 31, 1979, in Frugality, he married Jennifer J. McQuown who survives along with a daughter Megan L. Green and her husband Ray “Buddy” Green of Ramey and a son Matthew T. Decker of Duncansville. Also surviving are four grandchildren Braden Decker and Natalie, Luke and Emily Green. He was also preceded in death by a brother Ronald.
Tom was a 1966 graduate of Moshannon Valley High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Penn State University in 1970. He had been employed by the Pennsylvania State Police for 34 years, retiring as a Sergeant in 2005. In his retirement from the State Police he was employed by the Campus Police at Mount Aloysius College in Cresson for 11 years. He had attended Brisbin Baptist Church and enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, June 7, 2019. Family and friends will be received 5-8 pm Thursday, June 6, 2019 and again on Friday from 10 am until the hour of services at the McQuown Funeral Home, Glasgow. Pastor Mark Melhorn will officiate and burial will be in Beulah Cemetery, Ramey.
