Mrs. Bickle, 75, of Sinking Valley, died Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at her residence. She was born July 6, 1946, in Bellefonte, a daughter of the late Clayton G. and Mary M. (Biddle) Long. On April 27, 1968, in Port Matilda she married Gerald A. Bickle who survives along with seven children Loretta M. Riley of Edgewood, SC., Sharon M. (Gilbert) Lucas of Janesville, Tobias H. (Annette Albright) Bickle of Osceola Mills, Lael M. (Heather Wilson) Bickle of Altoona, Harold J. Bickle of Janesville, Clayton J. (Donna VanOrmer) Bickle of Altoona and Dawn (Robert) Moran of Palmetto, FL. Also surviving are numerous grand and great-grandchildren and two siblings Clyde E. Long of Bellefonte and Alice M. Brooks of Tyrone. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son Gerald Bickle, a grandson Jovone Bickle, a brother Leon Long and a son-in-law Mike Riley..
Joy was a 1964 graduate of Penns Valley High School. She served in the United States Army as a Private First Class during the Vietnam War. Joy was an accomplished author, having several books published under different genres, was a Religion Columnist for the Tyrone Herald newspaper and was a maker of beautiful, high quality quilts.
She was a member and secretary at New Life Assembly of God, Altoona, where funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, January 8, 2022 with Pastor Wayne Schaffer officiating. A viewing will be held at the church from 10:00 am until the hour of services.
